YouTube Inspiration

I love doing creative looks, especially Halloween-ish based ones.

I recently watched Evelina Forsell do a creative video for her second look for the NYX Nordic Face Awards. Good luck to her! I voted for her in the first round, she’s got such a lovely outlook and I find her delightfully relaxing to listen to. Just what I’ve needed.

So I decided to put my new Urban Decay Pallet to good use. I created a pale face and went with a dark smokey look on the eye, the colour pay off is mental with the urban decay and I found myself too heavy-handed at times which required a lot of buffing. Also have to say I really like the brush that came with the pallet, a first for me!

It’s definately not as polished as her look but overall I’m quite happy with it, I feel mine had a more grungy feel than her prettier one. Altogether though I like it!

What are the creative looks you like to do?

Red and Gold

Due to the UK Referendum home is not a nice place to be at the moment. Its been filled with fearful, spiteful words. Family and friends divided and attacking each other on social media. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve run away from it, I’m already scared myself about the future of the country and I don’t need more scaremongering filling my head with more worries and the possibility of being verbally attacked by people I’ve known most of my life.

So I’ve retreated to my little corner that I’ve filled with things I like. I’ve decided to be shallow, play around with make up and ignore the world for a little bit longer as I believe that things are going to be hard for a long time.

I’ve been inspired by some ladies on instagram that do Lip Art and decided to take my own whirl at it, be gentle with me!

I started with a simple clean base, with a lip balm bath then a basic foundation base.

Then I used Fleur De Force Starry Starry Night and applied a layer of gold leaf. I did try buffing it after to see if a more broken up look worked better but it just ended up bleeding with the gloss which I didn’t like.

Hope things are going well wherever you are in the world!

The Sims 4

I’ve been an avid player of The Sims since it release back in February 2000!

Wow I feel old.

The Sims 4

I’ve moved onto The Sims 4, at this stage of the game my favourite release has and still kinda is The Sims 3. Anyway.

I like the new features. Which include being able to build in bulk, ready-made rooms, styled looks, an abundant of add ons for looks and character creations.

I like playing out their lives, with their new jobs and the perks that come with them. I also enjoy that the jobs now seem to be more skilled based than friend based which I always found tiresome.

One of the low points for me is the babies, no longer can you see them from birth, through toddler to child, they are now babies for a few days then straight to child. I rather enjoyed teaching them to walk/talk/potty train etc and see what child they’d turn into via how much attention you gave them.

However I’ve got a few add on’s for the game which has made it more fun. I bought Spa Day on sale at Game. This is quite fun, you can place down a giant Spa in the world and your Sim’s can visit it. I loved this, the spa is relaxing and the different treatments you can get there is fun. I can’t seem to find any food though? So this can become an issue over long periods.

However I don’t know how entertained this would keep you long-term. I found it interesting for a bit but mainly use the at home add ons from the pack. These include meditation mats, yoga, sauna’s and new gym equipment which I’m really enjoying.

And I also brought Get To Work directly from Origin. This I’ve found really fun.

Personally I didn’t think too much of being a Detective, it took far too long to do anything and I found the career progression slow. Theres a lot of loading screens because of having to go to crime screens which can be very boring.

I havent tried being in retail.

The Scientist is quite fun, not to mention you can make freeze rays and such. I have been enjoying exploring this but haven’t advanced very far yet.

Being a Doctor. This is my favorite. It’s not quick, quick to advance but you can still get enough done to advance at a nice pace. There is more added as you go on such as the x-ray machines and surgery, I keep nearly killing people on the surgery table. Also the only downside I’ve had about this is that there’s a slight bug when you’ve treated a patient you have to re-admit them to the bed after everything you do. Unsure if this is just my game but it’s definatly a bit annoying as it cuts into your work time.

I would highly recommend getting this Expansion, there is hours worth of fun in it and I’m really enjoying it at the moment.

Do you play The Sims? If so which is your favorite?

Mothers Day (may contain spoilers)

I went to see this with my sister and some friends, it was a good light-hearted film. One or two teary moments but others very comedic and a nice watch.

Synopsis – Sandy (Jennifer Aniston) is a stressed-out, single mom who learns that her ex-husband is marrying a younger woman. Her friend Jesse (Kate Hudson) is a fitness freak who doesn’t tell her parents that she has a family. Bradley is a widower (Jason Sudeikis) who’s trying to raise two daughters on his own, while Miranda (Julia Roberts) is too busy with her career to worry about having children. When their respective problems start coming to a head, the Mother’s Day holiday takes on a special meaning.

I liked Jennifer’s character in this, she was fun to watch but seemed, I don’t know, not herself? However I liked her portrayal. Kate and Julia’s were great, really funny but both had some touching scenes, especially Julia’s.

I would recommend watching this if you want something really light-hearted but otherwise I’d say it may not be one to worry about in the long run.

Me Before You (may contain spoilers)

Oh gosh, what a film!

I’ve not read the book myself but I’ve added it to my list as with every film things are changed or cut completely.

I recommend taking tissues if you’re a crier.

Synopsis – Young and quirky Louisa “Lou” Clark (Emilia Clarke) moves from one job to the next to help her family make ends meet. Her cheerful attitude is put to the test when she becomes a caregiver for Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), a wealthy young banker left paralyzed from an accident two years earlier. Will’s cynical outlook starts to change when Louisa shows him that life is worth living. As their bond deepens, their lives and hearts change in ways neither one could have imagined.

Emilia did really well with this role, awkward but relatable. I loved that there was humour throughout, as there is in life but it was also filled with scenes that made you cringe, others that made you impatient and others that made your heart drop to your stomach. It was an interesting take that she couldn’t change his mind in the end, not a conventional ‘happy ending’. This is where the tissues come in.

Sam Claflin did fantastic, considering that he’s, not to my knowledge, done a role like this before he was, to me, incredibly believable. He was brilliant with his character development and in the end I agreed with his choice, as unthinkable as it is, you could really see how he just couldn’t cope, he didn’t want to adapt or hold on, he’d accepted what he wanted and gave it his all before he left.

A fantastic film, maybe not one I’d buy at this time to watch again but definitely one i’d say go see.

Life Intervened and Warcraft (may contain spoilers)

Hey All,

Hope that you’ve been keeping well.

Sorry the last week seemed to slip by un-noticed on the blog. Between feeling better, weddings, cinema trips, our 4 year anniversary, Fathers Day and sorting our Save the Dates; this week life just took over!

I went to see Warcraft with MrGUINE and some friends.

Amazing movie. I dabbled in the game a little whereas MrGUINE was a hardcore player for many years, but it looked like a good movie that we both wanted to go see.

Synopsis – Looking to escape from his dying world, the orc shaman Gul’dan utilizes dark magic to open a portal to the human realm of Azeroth. Supported by the fierce fighter Blackhand, Gul’dan organizes the orc clans into a conquering army called the Horde. Uniting to protect Azeroth from these hulking invaders are King Llane, the mighty warrior Anduin Lothar (Travis Fimmel) and the powerful wizard Medivh. As the two races collide, leaders from each side start to question if war is the only answer.

The story is obviously very condensed down as is every movie that is based on something from a massive franchise, such as Harry Potter etc. However between the graphics, acting and plot pace it was a great watch. I adored the view of magic in this film, it was a focal point rather than an add on which I loved. The actors were good and seemed quite natural in their roles, even if you didn’t know their history at points you can grasp whats going to happen before it does. Theres also few emotional scenes that made me shed a tear.

I’d recommend going to see this, whether a hardcore gamer or if totally unknown to you. It was a fun watch, I’ll happily buy it to watch again and am really hoping for a sequel.

Urban Decay – Naked

Yes. I know. I’m very late to the Naked Palette Obsession.

But I’ve never brought myself one, however I got my sticky mitts on one from a good friend for my birthday! I’ve only just had a play about with it as I’ve been feeling sick.

Oh my gosh, I can see why its a cult favorite. The buttery, satin silkiness of the shadows is immense and that pay off with the barest brush is amazing.

I personally have found a real liking with Sin, Sidecar, Half Baked, Toasted and Gunmetal. These are real ‘me’ colours, things that I would use in an average make up look.

I will create a few different looks with thisĀ palette and give my thoughts on how easy they are to use, blend and how I feel they last on my dry skin.
