Oh the dress. Personally I found the words of advise ‘you just know when its the One’ so very true. I saw ‘my’ dress a year before I’d even tried it on at the Milton Keynes Wedding Fayre.
It was from the wonderful ladies at The Ivory Wardrobe in Woburn Sands. I booked an appointment with them a year before the wedding. Tried on ‘the dress’ first followed by around 15 more but it was just a no for everything else. My heart was set on that first one.
It is, in my opinion, a modern princess style.
I got my shoes and veil with The Ivory Wardrobe also. A gorgeous, incredibly comfy pair from Pink. My ‘something blue’ gem stickers was simply from Amazon but I felt it added a nice touch.
I am unsure who my Veil is designed by but I will edit this post as soon as I do.
I wish everyone the best of luck finding ‘their dress’ it really does create such a special memory.
We found these guys first. Originally we had booked them for 17.06.2017, a Saturday, but it turns out that when we fell in love with our venue the Saturday was booked!
I spoke to the wonderful Marie whom was very understanding, checked with the band members and hurrah, they could do the Friday!
So we re-booked, confirmed the venue and deposited on both of them. With the band, they ask for your first song, your top 10 DJ songs and a few other bits that we didn’t use.
Due to timings at the wedding I was very conscious about how tight things were going to be so contacted Marie and asked if the lads were willing to do an early extension. Of course this came with a cost but they were willing to oblige.
They were truly something else at the venue. They got people up, the songs were brilliant and they kept everything upbeat and positive throughout the night. Their DJ was brilliant, he played in between sets and ended the night for us.
Our first song was wonderful, we chose ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri. I had been concerned that this would be out of their vocal range but I needn’t have been, they nailed it and it was an emotional dance.
Nicola specialises in candid photographing, she obviously does posed photos but her candidness is what attracted us to her. I began following her facebook page way back at the beginning of 2016, after observing her work for a few weeks, I mention her to MrG and he was more than happy to go ahead with her.
I arranged a meeting, she had our date available, so we booked! 1.5 years in advance. Nicola as far as I’m aware is being booked rapidly for 2018 already.
She made us feel very at ease, was a burst of bright positive energy when she arrived on the morning and began snapping away.
If you are based in the Milton Keynes area I would highly recommend checking her work out as we’re completely in love with ours.
I knew from the offset that I wanted a ‘unique’ bouquet for myself and my bridesmaids. I trailed the internet for absolutely ages before coming across Lily Belle Keepsakes on Etsy.
I instantly fell in love with several of her designs. I contacted her and we spoke about colours and themes before she made me and the bridesmaids a bespoke bouquet each.
I chose a Cascade Tear Drop Waterfall for myself and a simpler version for my bridesmaids. These were brought two years before our wedding, kept under lock and key inside their boxes and out of direct sunlight. They looked just as beautiful two years on and its such a precious keepsake for me.
I paid half the fee beforehand for materials, was sent photographs when finished incase there was something I wanted tweaking and once approved I paid the remainder. They came very securely not long after.
For the venue, the toss bouquet and the presents for my mother and mother-in-law I wanted real flowers.
I found the lovely Sharons Flowers (you can find her on Facebook only) through my mum and she was a delight to work with.
Incredibly easy to talk to and bounce ideas off. Paid around a week before the wedding as she buys the flowers as fresh as possible. Nothing was too much trouble and she did a beautiful job.
We went mainly for the beautiful and completely inexpensive option of gypsophila and in the toss bouquet I had a ‘beefy’ white rose, which name escapes me.
I wanted something very bright and happy for the gift bouquets and Sharon suggested sunflowers. I thought it very fitting and was very pleased with how they turned out.
We were very pleased with how all the flowers turned out and our guests really enjoyed the unique variety.
My sister and I arranged a lovely visit to the spa Whittlebury Hall for my Hen Do. We had a spa visit, treatments, booked a room and stayed for ‘Ladies Night’, which is as naughty as it sounds.
We arrived early in the am and enjoyed the spa experience. I had a facial, fully body message and a thousand petal scrub treatment. They were incredibly enjoyable and seriously helped me to relax after our busy moving period.
The ladies night was so raunchy I’m afraid i wont post pictures as these gents let everything hang out, but i will tell you it was the most hilarious night I’ve had in a long time and i highly recommend anyone that’s local and wanting a fun night out to go see it when it’s on.
Altogether it was a simple Hen Do with really good friends, a good laugh and a nice place to stay and chill out.
We wont mention the copious amounts of junk food I absorbed the next day!
